Why Private Label

Owning a brand without owning a factory

A dehydration plant is a serious capital commitment: dryers, mills, sieving lines, metal detection, packing equipment and the technical staff to run all of it. For most brands the economics never make sense, because the volume that justifies a plant is far beyond what a single brand sells.

Private label manufacturing separates the two things. You keep what actually builds value — the brand, the customer relationships, the market knowledge — and we handle production against your written specification. You get to launch a coherent range across several products at once, rather than one line at a time as capital allows.

It also means your specification travels with your brand. Once a profile is approved, the same mesh, moisture and flavour character is reproduced on every subsequent run, which is what lets your customers trust the label.

Where private label is not the answer

We are not going to pretend it suits everyone. If your product depends on a genuinely proprietary process, or if you need day-to-day control over production scheduling, contract manufacturing will frustrate you. And a brand with no distribution yet is usually better served buying bulk and packing locally at small scale until volume justifies printed packaging.

The Process

Six stages from first conversation to shipped stock

  1. 01

    Product and positioning

We agree which powders, at what specification, and where the finished product sits in your market — premium retail behaves differently from value.

  2. 02

    Specification and sample

Mesh, moisture and flavour profile are fixed, and samples are produced so your team can approve the actual product before packaging is committed.

  3. 03

    Pack format selection

Jar, pouch, sachet or shaker — chosen against the powder's hygroscopicity, your shelf position and the climate the goods travel through.

  4. 04

    Artwork and labelling

You supply label artwork; we supply accurate product, origin and lot data. Regulatory compliance for your market remains yours to confirm.

  5. 05

    Packaging procurement

Printed materials are ordered in runs, so a first programme needs meaningful lead time that repeat orders do not.

  6. 06

    Production and despatch

Powder is produced, filled into your packaging, lot-marked and prepared for export with the documentation your destination requires.

Pack Formats

Choosing a pack that suits the powder

Packaging for dehydrated powder is a moisture-management decision that happens to carry your logo. Getting it wrong produces a caked product and a customer complaint, however good the print looks.

Glass and PET jars

The premium retail format — good barrier properties, a reusable feel and shelf presence. Suits garlic and onion powder in spice aisles, and beetroot powder in wellness ranges.

Laminated pouches

Lighter, cheaper to ship and capable of excellent barrier performance with the right laminate structure. The usual choice for larger retail weights and for hygroscopic products like tomato and lemon powder, where barrier matters more than appearance.

Sachets and shakers

Single-use sachets suit beverage premixes and food service; shaker tops suit table seasonings. Both need particular attention to fill accuracy and to flow, since a powder that bridges in a shaker frustrates the end user.

Bulk and food service

Lined sacks and cartons in larger weights for catering distribution and for buyers repacking at their own facility. Less glamorous, and often the majority of a private label programme by volume.

Practical Considerations

Things worth settling early

Lead time

Printed packaging is ordered in runs and has to exist before filling. First programmes take meaningfully longer than repeat orders.

Minimum quantities

Usually driven by the packaging print run rather than the powder. Generic packs with an applied label carry a lower threshold than custom-printed formats.

Fill weight tolerance

Powder density varies with mesh and moisture, so a declared weight needs a realistic tolerance and slight overfill to stay compliant.

Label compliance

Ingredient declaration, origin, weight, batch and any market-specific requirements must meet your destination's rules — the brand owner's responsibility.

Barcodes and shelf life

Retail barcodes, case codes and the best-before convention your market expects should be agreed before the first print run.

Sample approval

Approve both the powder and a physical sample pack before packaging is manufactured. It is the cheapest point at which to change your mind.

Common Questions

Private label and OEM

What pack formats can you offer?

Retail jars, pouches, sachets and shaker formats, plus food service and bulk packs. The right choice depends on the powder's hygroscopicity, your market and the climate the goods travel through.

Can products be packed under our own brand?

Yes. We apply your label artwork to consumer and bulk packs at our facility, ready for your distribution channel.

What lead time does a private label programme need?

Printed packaging is ordered in runs, so first programmes need more lead time than repeat orders. We confirm realistic timelines once formats and quantities are agreed.

Who is responsible for label compliance?

Label content must meet your destination market's regulations, which remains the brand owner's responsibility. We supply accurate product, origin and lot information to support it.
